Worse than G35 drivers? Worse drivers or worse people?

So many questions!

Stereotypes and reality, overlapping circles once again when it comes to this specific brand and vehicle category .

I like how it got tangled up in what I assume is a cable barrier after the impact. That probably hurt, and barring something like a medical emergency, the driver might have had it coming.

Certainly, the faster you are going, the less distracted we need you to be.

The taconic is the last place you should be distracted driving.

It's old, poorly maintained, narrow, and filled with idiots who drive recklessly and at twice the speed limit.

More than likely cable, yeah. The taconic is an old highway that relies heavily on cable barriers where they don't have rusted away steel barriers.

Nah. We need those cars to avoid the bad drivers (and maybe flip them off)

Add X2 drivers to the list. My nephew made an illegal turn and wrecked his on the way home from the dealership after picking it up.

Having had a family member whose neck is permanently injured and had to give up almost all of his hobbies and retire years early;  and lost another family member entirely to a distracted driver. Both of which were unmoving at the time. Fuck distracted drivers.

The slow motion version would be anyone driving an Infinity QX**.  Those people are ponderous and have no idea where they’re going and how to drive.

I would argue that it's the Toyota Highlander more.

Misleading title. It should read something like, “ A BMW traveling at 90 mph rear-ended another vehicle which was going the speed limit.”

I’m not entirely convinced they were distracted. It looks to me like they wanted to pass the truck (because they were travelling way too fast) and when it switched to the center lane, they decided they would just fly by on the right, not noticing that the right lane was ending (maybe due to distraction, but maybe they were just unobservant). Then when they saw they couldn’t go there, they slammed into the back of the truck (because they were going way too fast, and had nowhere else to go).

This is what an X3 driver had to say in a reply to me on the FP:

‘ You’re sadly mistaken..and wrong of course. We’ve had our for over 2 years now, and the X3's clutch / gearbox combo is EXACTLY like an E46 3-series. It actually brings this SUV to life and makes it feel more like a hothatch from BMW. I’m all for ‘SAVE THE MANUALS’ and this is a proper DRIVER’S SUV that people need to be told about. The X5 on the other hand, from the same era, was absolute garbage with an archaic 5-speed. I’m in Michigan and would be happy to change your mind. This isn’t a 7-seater SUV that is over 3 tons. The X3 with all it’s technology and AWD is a little over 4000 Ibs, which isn’t terrible, and the 3.0 has plenty of power with the 6 speed to make it more playful. It’s not your typical luxo-SUV, because the clutch / gearbox are notchy and the ride is stiff (we have an M-sport model), and the hydraulic steering talks to you ALL the time. I also own an E39 M5 and an MK7 GTI, so my praise for the E83 X3 is probably justified at this point.’

Naturally, I didnt reply because fuck’em, but yeah, they are the worst (I make no distinctions between X3, 4, 5, 6, 7 drivers ).
